Our sound talent who worked on Judas and the Black Messiah, Wonder Woman 1984, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and The Midnight Sky were recently part of a panel called “The Mix Presents” which was hosted by the Soundworks Collection.

For Judas and the Black Messiah, Rich Bologna (Supervising Sound Editor), Skip Lievsay (Re-Recording Mixer) and Marlowe Taylor (CAS, Production Sound Mixer) chatted with moderator Jennifer Walden (Journalist) to discuss their experience working on film and their process of trying to keep the sound authentic to its period (1960s) while keeping it riveting at the same time. Judas and the Black Messiah tells the story through of Illinois Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton and his betrayal by an FBI informant. To watch the full interview click the video above.

The Wonder Woman 1984 panel featured Jimmy Boyle (Supervising Sound Editor), Peter Devlin (Production Sound Mixer), Richard King (Supervising Sound Editor) and Gilbert Lake (Re-Recording Mixer) and was moderated by Tom Kenny, Editor of Mix. They discussed how it was to work on a sequel to 2017’s hugely successful Wonder Woman film and how they included blockbuster soundtracks while making sure the sound translated equally well on the big screen and on HBO Max. Watch the full interview in the video above.

In the The Trial of the Chicago 7 panel featuring Julian Slater and Renee Tondelli they explore Aaron Sorkin’s vision for telling the story of the infamous 1969 trial of seven defendants charged by the federal government with conspiracy and more, arising from the countercultural protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The trial transfixed the nation and sparked a conversation about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government. To see the full interview click on the video above.

The last panel of this event was Midnight Sky which is a 2020 American science fiction film directed by George Clooney, based on the 2016 novel Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton. It stars Clooney as a scientist who must venture through the Arctic Circle to warn off a returning spaceship following a global catastrophe. This interview featured our sound talent Dan Hiland, Todd Beckett and Randy Thom.  You can watch the full interview above.
